Saturday Celtic Youth welcomed Bonymaen Youth to the field of dreams for a second round Ospreys Plate encounter. The weather had been bad all week which put the game in doubt but hard work by Luke, Stoney, Greg and Paul saved the day.

The first 20 minutes of the game was a very tight battle with both packs giving no quarter. Soon Celtic camped in the visitors 22 and they won a penalty close to the line from which Jack Hanbury was driven over for the touchdown. 10 minutes later flanker Mason Watkin made a break from his own half and ran to the 22 before passing to scrum half Morgan Stone who cantered over for a try. Outside half George Richards converted.

Celtic lost two key three quarters, Captain Callum Power and centre Luca Barcley, and started the second half with 2 back rowers in the back line. This did not affect their performance and after great interaction by many players, wing Rhys Cahill was put over in the corner. Richards converted.

Celtic continued to put pressure on the visitors and one strong attack down the left resulted in scrum half Morgan Stone switching play for Richards to throw a long pass to centre Morgan Davies who sprinted clear for a try. Richards converted.

Celtics final score came when George Richards side stepped the rush defence and ran in under the posts for a touchdown which he converted. Bonymaen didn’t give up and finished the game with 2 good tries.

Players of note were James Williams, Jack Hanbury Morgan Stone and Osian Davies. Flanker Mason Watkin was voted Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.
