Kenfig Hill/Porthcawl U13s 7 v 39 Maesteg Celtic U13s

Celtic U13s made the short journey to Kenfig Hill to play a combined team of Kenfig Hill and Porthcawl. The pitch was in surprisingly good condition considering the weather over the last few days. With only 17 players available, due to injuries and other commitments, this was going to be another tough test for our squad. Some of our newer boys were only playing their second game for the club. The teams confidence is starting to grow as was evident when the boys had ball in hand and were attacking with some silky skills.

The highlights were, the scrums, our defensive display, putting the ball through the hands, and our direct running which on times looked great. There are still a few things to work on, like not celebrating before you score. The overall performance deserved a mark of 7/10.

Today’s Man of the Match was an easy choice!  Nathan Harris had the nod off everyone with a brilliant performance. In only his second match he carried ball at every opportunity and crossed the line for 2 tries. He could have had a third but unselfishly passed the ball on for a team mate to score. A great performance and a great result for the Celts.

Today’s try scorers were

Nathan Harris     2

Jamie Griffiths    2

Luke Williams     1

Josh Darkes        1

Harvey Webb      1

Callum Power     2 conversions
