Maesteg Celtic 2nds 38 v 12 Maesteg Quins

Maesteg Celtic 2nds entertained a weakened Maesteg Quins 2nds at Llangynwyd for a league encounter. Quins began well and were first on the score sheet when their scrum half took advantage of confusion to touch down. They scored again when a clever chip through caught the Celtic defence napping and allowed them to go further ahead. Celtic responded with a try by flanker Nathan Adams after great interplay by the pack. Rhodri Thomas converted. Celtic increased the pressure on the visitors and a clearance kick was charged down by Adams and the ever watchful scrum half Nathan Edwards pounced on the ball to score. Thomas converted.

The second half continued much as before and despite having a player yellow carded the forwards and backs moved the ball around through many phases before hooker Morgan Reeves touched down in the corner. Second row Mathew Jones scored the next try with a powerful charge to the line carrying two defenders with him. Thomas converted. Jones’s second try came after great interpassing put him clear in the corner.  Wiley scrum half Nathan Edwards completed the scoring with his second try when he found a gap 5 metres out. He converted his own try. Wing Gareth Blackwell was voted Man of the Match.
