Waunarlwydd 39 v 0 Maesteg Celtic

Maesteg Celtic visited bottom of the league Waunarlwydd on a wild and windy winter’s day. There was a strong wind blowing down the pitch with long periods of heavy rain. Waunarlwydd played with the conditions in the first half and dominated possession and territory. Celtic defended manfully for long periods of time. The home team kept the ball tight and drove relentlessly at the Celtic pack who would not yield to the incessant pressure. Waunarlwydd took the lead when their scrum half threw a miss pass to their centre who ran through the defence to touch down near the posts.

The weather conditions changed in the second half with the rain stopping and the wind easing. Celtic failed to dominate the home team who could sense a victory and tired bodies fell off tackles and allowed the home team to run in 5 unanswered tries.

Second row Rhys Bevan Jones was voted Man of the Match.
