Brynamman 35 v 12 Maesteg Celtic

Maesteg Celtic returned to League Rugby with a visit to Brynamman. The first half was a strongly contested affair with the Celtic pack driving forward at every opportunity and the Brynamman half backs kicking deep into Celtic territory. Brynamman went ahead when their outside half looped their centres and put the left wing clear to score. Their scrum half converted from wide out. Celtic evened the score when outside half Mathew Harris kicked a penalty to the corner and second row Mark Hillier-Rees leaped in the air and was driven over for a touchdown. Harris converted. Brynamman scrum half put them ahead again with two penalties from long range.

Brynamman dominated much of the play in the second half and scored three tries. Celtic gained a consolation try at the end of the game when Celtic Man of the Match centre Kristian Jenkins ran 40 metres beating several defenders and then put substitute wing Shaun Raymond clear to score in the corner.
