Maesteg Celtic 2nds 59 v 7 Pyle 2nds

Maesteg Celtic 2nds entertained Pyle 2nds between the showers on a wet Wednesday evening. Celtic began well when number 8 Ryan Jones ran through the Pyle defence to score. This was quickly followed by a great break from centre James Jones who cut back inside to score under the posts. Their next try came from a 40 metre break by full back Ben Poole who drew the full back and kicked to the corner. Centre James Jones followed up and touched down. Celtic went further ahead when their pack drove to the line allowing hooker Ashley Poole to touch down. The Celtic front five of Keith Stone, Neil Sainsbury, Josh Whelan, Nathan Jenkins and Mathew Jones were so dominant that a 25metre drive resulted in replacement hooker Neil Sainsbury scoring. Celtic scored again with a fine three quarter move which resulted in James Jones scoring his third try of the match. The second half ended when wing Zac Collier ran clear before passing to wing Gavin Joseph who scored.

Pyle came more into the game in the second half and won good ball. Celtic defence remained solid and with flanker Nathan Adams dominating the line out they went further ahead when scrum half Neil Arthur first passed to number 8 Ryan Jones and then looped around to receive the return pass and score under the posts. Pyle were rewarded for their determination with an interception on half way which they ran under the posts. The game finished with a 50 metre move, involving many players, which resulted in flanker Mark Hillier-Rees scoring under the posts.
