Bryncoch U14s 1 try v Maesteg Celtic U14s 7tries

The first game of the season for the boys  was against Bryncoch and they got off to a flyer. With only 17 players available, due to a few minor knocks and holidays, the team were desperate to get the season off to a good start. The first 10 minutes were very evenly contested but Celtic’s back line began to wear down the opposition defence with some silky skills and direct running. Celtic forwards were now on top and the backs were reaping the rewards with the pace they had behind the scrum. It was only a matter of time before they crossed the white wash. As the first half whistle blew Celtic had scored 3 tries to Bryncoch's 1.

The boys really upped their game when the second half kicked off! The forwards turned over a lot of ball at the breakdown and both backs and forwards defence was rock solid!! Some of the tackles going in were frightening! The most enjoyable part was the way they carried the ball in hand and attacked at every opportunity. They scored another 4 unanswered tries, which was very pleasing.

It was great to see the team putting in such a great opening day performance and some of the tries were outstanding! There were too many of the boys who played out of their skin to name! But I have to give a shout out to our flying winger Jamie, who carried on where he left off last season finishing top try scorer by crossing the line for 4 tries!!! And man of the match went to our returning flanker Jason. He was outstanding through the game. He put in hit after hit!

Well done boys, excellent start to the season, let's take this performance into next week’s game against Cwmavon.
