Maesteg Celtic 2nds visited Maesteg Quins for a league fixture. Celtic forwards continued their good run by dominating possession. Their three quarters constantly made good ground and kept play in Quins territory.

Celtic opened the scoring through excellent interplay by their forwards which allowed their three quarters to get the ball to centre Lee Sainsbury who ghosted through the defence for a great try. Maesteg Quins took the lead with a fine converted try but Celtic outside half Rhodri Thomas dropped a goal to regain the lead. He later kicked 3 penalties to take Celtic clear. Quins didn’t give in and pressed hard late in the game. Fortunately cool headed veteran ex-Aberavon star Ian Herbert steadied the ship with some excellent tactical kicking to close out the game. Hooker Morgan Reeves was awarded Man of the Match.
