West Central Division Two Champions Maesteg Celtic held their annual awards ceremony at the Celtic Athletic club on Friday night. The evening began with an excellent three course meal provided by Brownings of the Rhondda during which there was a viewing of photos taken, by Allan Aubrey, of the games played last season. The Chairman John Edwards then spoke on the clubs achievements during the previous season and thanked the individuals concerned for their contribution to the clubs success.

Club secretary Robert Mcgee then introduced the guest speaker Ospreys, Wales and British Lions great, Alun Wyn Jones who spoke eloquently and frankly in a question and answer session. He then presented the trophies to the award winners.

* Club man of the year was first aider and physio Gary Jenkins.

* Most improved player was flanker Peter Kehoe.

* Second team player of the year was flanker Nathan Adams

* First team player of the year was centre Kristian Jenkins.

The players then honoured ex chairman and retiring treasurer Ian Davies with a momento for his 20 years service as an official of the club. Ian thanked them for the award and received a standing ovation from the members present in the hall. The evening concluded with dancing to “The Pop Tarts”
