Maesteg Celtic 90th Anniversary Reunion

A reunion was held at the club house to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the formation of Maesteg Celtic RFC. Around 180 past and present players attended a most enjoyable evening.

The evening began with a Hog Roast provided by Brownings of the Rhondda, which was followed by the Master of Ceremonies Anthony Bwye inviting the Chairman Ian Davies to give an introductory speech. He welcomed the guests, David Brace, Gwyn Evans and Clive Rowlands. The Captain Oliver Petty welcomed past players and thanked them for their contribution to the longevity of the Club. This was followed by the Head Coach Kieran Power who thanked the current players for their achievements.

The guest speaker Clive Rowlands then recounted a number of anecdotes interspersed with amusing jokes which the audience enjoyed very much. He was followed by a hilarious performance by comedian Colin Price. Gwyn Evans then presented trophies to the winners of the afternoon touch rugby tournament.
