Bridgend Sports 2nds 26 v 27 Maesteg Celtic 2nds

Maesteg Celtic 2nds visited Bridgend Sports for a friendly fixture. The game began with passive scrums but this did not deter the Celtic forwards. They opened the scoring when veteran prop Dale Cook touched down from a driving maul. Rhodri Thomas converted. Play continued in the same manner and Deri Lloyd was the next recipient of a well organised driving maul. Bridgend Sports closed the gap just before half time with a converted try.

The second half continued much as the first with Celtic second row Mark Wilkins scoring from a barnstorming run taking three defenders over with him. Sports responded from the kick off to score immediately. Celtic centre Nathan Healy increased the lead with a penalty kick before Bridgend Sports scored another converted try to bring the score to 19-20. Celtic went further ahead from another excellent driving maul from which hooker Morgan Reeves touched down. Sports did not give in and intense pressure resulted in two Celtic players receiving yellow cards. In the last minute of the game they eventually touched down just one point short.
