Porthcawl U8s 7 v 9 Maesteg Celtic U8s

Maesteg Celtic under 8s made a superb second half comeback to claim the 7-9 victory over Porthcawl! Coach Dai Lloyd was replaced by Dan early on. Bless him! He had bad calves from yesterday and boy did he let everyone know.
A wobbly start from Celtic saw Porthcawl open the scoring early on. It looked as though our boys were going to give up at one point but with excellent support from parents and fans they really picked up.

Arlo showed great determination with some brilliant tagging from the start and this continued throughout the game.

George had a stormer with some great running, strong defence and a couple of tries.

Rhys was again excellent this week and had real control of the game scoring a hat trick.
Ioan was also looking sharp with some great tagging and two more tries.
This week’s stand out player was Arlo who was looking sharp and was consistent throughout in both defence and attack. He really earned this week’s player of the week. This was without doubt the game of the season so far.  Porthcawl's referee commented on what a good game it was. This age group is improving week after week in their discipline and deserve credit for that.
This week’s try scorers are:
Rhys            3
George       2
Ioan             2
Arlo             1
Tomos        1
